Asheville and my home area of Fairview were both slammed this past Autumn by the hurricane. It has destroyed homes, injured and killed people and generally upset us in ways that we continue heal.
I have noticed that all of my neighbors that have practices, hobbies, or anything in their lives that are fulfilling in any way, are doing much better than those that have been traumatized and do not seem to have purpose to their lives.
It is for that reason that I am offering free classes on Thursday evenings from 6-7pm at the Fairview Library for the month of March. I want to help my community to improve their mental, emotional and physical health by teaching attendees so simple movements, and meditations that can be done as a daily practice in 10-15 minutes.
The class is open to all ages and fitness levels. Qigong is not a religion or organized spiritual practice. It is one of the components of Chinese Medicine that is practiced by people of all religions and beliefs all over the world. I call it the self-help aspect of Chinese Medicine. A few minutes of Qigong practice stimulates circulation of the lifeforce energy as well as the physical movement of blood, breath, lymph, and cerebral spinal fluid.
Qigong has been known to increase vitality and energy levels as well as improve balance. Physical balance as well as mental and emotional wellness and overall health are positively affected.
I also continue to offer my regular ongoing Tuesday morning classes 10-11am at Asia House, 119 Coxe Avenue downtown Asheville. This class is also open to all levels of students and the fee is still only $15 per class.
good qi to all
